NEWTON CLOSE, SELF BUILD DWELLINGS

New development of 21 self build residential dwellings facilitated by Cherwell District Council

This innovative scheme by Cherwell District Council provided a serviced site with infrastructure to facilitate a number of self-build plots for local people to build their own homes.

The development uses a variety of sustainable drainage SuDS techniques including permeable paved access roads and infiltration basins for an integrated approach to the disposal of surface water.

Ground conditions were challenging and consisted of peat layers overlying brash limestone requiring the building slabs to be piled. The building floor slabs were provided as a base for the individual owners to work off thus removing the need for individual foundation solutions to be procured.
