West Croydon Public Realm Scheme
A deceptively complex public realm improvement scheme for Croydon Council that involved Network Rail, Tram Link and Transport for London among the main stake holders. The improvements which were undertaken under restricted working constraints involved extending a tramstop platform with a feature screen fence, New signal controlled junction layout, high quality paving and architectural details. Works on an under-strength railway bridge also added challenges to delivering the design.
Working to available Tramlink Line possessions required forward planning, good communication and flexibility from all of the design team parties. The resulting scheme has transformed an area that is the centre of the transport hub for West Croydon.
